I’ve got a ridiculous number of hours flying planes in Battlefield V across console and PC. Honestly, with all the time I’ve spent in the air, it is very possible that I’ve shot you down, blown up your tank, ruined your AA shenanigans, or simply blew you to kingdom come while you were shitting in the bushes as infantry on whatever map many, many times.
So, here it is, all of my plane specialization selections for every airplane in Battlefield V. There’s a few in here that I’m still trying to figure out and sometimes I get bored and mess with these things but these are my default, go-to, tried and true specialization selections. Feel free to try these out and let me know in the comments how they work for you.
United Kingdom
Spitfire MK VA
Good against AA, average against planes.
Blenheim MK IF
This one is kind of a sleeper. I run it with the engine upgrade and the additional nose gunner machine guns. It’s really fast, can take a licking, and there’s TWO excellent passenger gunner seats. Excellent load out for flying with friends.
Spitfire MK VB
This is my go-to British fighter plane. Use the nitrous to get behind planes or for quick approach/egress with AA. Those missiles are more than enough to deal with AA and will finish most planes after you chew them up a bit with the 2x20MM or the 2x.50CAL’s.
Blenheim MKI
The Blenheim MKi might be the most difficult bomber to fly in Battlefield V. The spotting camera got a range nerf so go with the additional passenger gunner seat. Use the first person gun sight to absolutely ruin ground targets with the single .50CAL high explosive heavy machine gun and if there’s time left on your strafing run, dump all those 40LB bombs to complete the destruction.
Mosquito MKII
For a long time I ran this plane LLLL but I’ve discovered the high altitude package is actually lots of fun. Fly straight up full throttle in a dog fight, look behind you to see when your pursuer stalls, turn around and murder them from behind with your LMG’s. Fly super high, come straight down on AA with your missiles. The high altitude package is LOTS of fun.
Mosquito FB MKVI
There’s two ways to run this plane. You can go LLLL and hit targets with your rockets on approach and then your bombs. Or, equip it RRRR like I do and drop 4000lbs of blockbuster bomb to hilarious effect. Either way, you can take out a tank in a single pass. One caution, there’s no aerodynamics on the 4000lb bomb so it takes awhile to hit. Might just be the most fun plane in the game.
Germany
BF 109 G-2
A fine fighter that I rarely use. Ok against other planes, Ok against non-armored AA.
JU-88 A
World, meet the JU-88 A, aka THE MURDER BOMBER, aka THE REO SPEEDWAGON. Likely one of the most fun planes in the game, lovingly equipped with lots of bombs, dive brakes, and nitrous. Hit the nitrous on the way in to attack AA to throw off their timing. Hit the nitrous on the way out to rocket away from the scene of the crime. Man I love going really high, lining up a target, hitting the nitrous on the way in and dropping all 2000LBS of bombs at once, really really fast.
Stuka B-1
If you’re gonna fly a Stuka in Battlefield V, this is the one you want to fly and here’s how you run it, all down the left side. Dive brakes and a massive 1000KG bomb can solve most any problem. The right side with the high altitude package and nitrous could also be really fun…
BF 109 G-6
This is it, The Hammer. With this load out you can do most anything but it’ll take you at least two passes to take out an AA tank. Great fighter, great plane.
Stuka B-2
I know you saw the model kit version of this plane as a kid, and you fell in love with those massive 2x37MM Bordkanones. They used to be more powerful and they’re still really good against planes if you can get behind them. But God help you if you try to take something out on the ground with them. This plane was rendered obsolete with the last changes they made buffing AA and as a result, there’s no good place for this plane in Battlefield V at the moment.
JU-88 C
Honestly, this is the way to run this plane. There’s some other things you can play around with but this is the money load out. Get out there, go high, ADS that huge 75MM ventral cannon and have some fun. It’s like the canon version of the JU-88 A Murder Bomber.
USA
Corsair F4U-1A
It’s like this… if you prefer bombs and sort of holding your own against other planes, this might be for you. The napalm got nerfed ages ago and the 2x500LB bombs got nerfed the last patch and no longer kill tanks in a single pass, so you gotta lay it on the nose with the 1000LB bomb.
Corsair F4U-1C
Now here we go, this is the plane. I go with the 6xHMGs to take down planes as fast as possible in conjunction with the two 5IN rockets. Those rockets work pretty well against armor but not in a single pass. The real money is that manual supercharger which allows you to get behind Zeros quick from far away. It’s my go-to fighter for the USA and since the patch, rivals the BF 109 G-6 for my affections.
A-20 Bomber
Ok, first, engine upgrade, then 2x1000LB bombs, PLUS twin .50CAL MG’s for the passenger in a rotating turret. It’s fast, takes a beating, and your gunner will have a great time. There’s a glitch with this plane and the P-70 Night Fighter that make them difficult to see for anyone or anything that isn’t ADS, so use that to your advantage.
P-70 Night Fighter
Oh yeah, this thing, probably the most powerful and best plane in the game, period. You can absolutely shred planes and ground targets with those 6xHMG’s/ You can absolutely shred planes and ground targets with those 12xM8 rockets too. They’ll take out a tank with full health with only 9 rockets. Make sure you ADS stuff from across the map with your rockets because it’s more fun that way. Again, this plane has a glitch that makes it difficult to see at long ranges when the person looking isn’t ADS so use that to your advantage as well.
P51D Fighter
I honestly haven’t figured this plane out quite yet. it’s the only plane that I don’t recommend running the manual supercharger on because equipping it replaces your emergency repair, and the supercharger overheats really quickly. I haven’t written it off yet, still needs more experimenting.
P51K Fighter
This is the fighter you want to run if you’re playing the USA side. Decent against planes, really good against unarmored AA, and while it won’t kill a tank in a single pass… look man, it’s got dive brakes and land mines. Go up real high over a tank, use dive brakes, drop your bombs, and then your mines. You’ll piss someone off for sure. The parafrag bombs though are kind of junk.
Japan
Zero A6M2
Ok, it’s pretty much the counterpart of the Corsair F4U-1A. You can run this plane the same way you run that plane and you might not remember what side you’re on. Again the napalm was nerfed ages ago and the 2x500LB bombs won’t do a tank in a single pass, so you gotta go with the 842LB bomb… but you gotta put this bomb right exactly on top of the tank to kill it in a single pass.
Zero A6M5
This guy here is your guy. The only quandary here is to go with either the 8x rockets or the 2x rockets. Again, use that manual supercharger to run up behind enemy planes out of nowhere, torch them with your 6xHMG’s and finish them quick with rockets. Or just pummel ground targets with the rockets and use that manual supercharger to get the hell in and out fast. Excellent fighter.
